CBS New York News reports Long Island has 135 potentially polluted sites. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation came out with a list of where 20 sites were in Hicksville.

There are 67 sites in Suffolk County and 68 in Nassau that are potentially polluted. This is due to years of hazardous waste stored that is long gone. Statewide, the DEC found 4,362 polluted areas. (CBS New York)
