Gov. Andrew Cuomo has taken steps to ensure another gas shortage, like the one superstorm Sandy caused, will never happen again. Fuel NY Initiative allows the region to use over 3 million gallons of gas in case of an emergency. The gas is held at Northville Industries. (Garden City Patch)

Gov. Cuomo tells Garden City Patch, Northville was allotted the contract, but the final modifications are still being processed. Northville Industries has storage tanks in Setauket, Port Jefferson and Holtsville as well.

Cuomo’s goal for Fuel NY is to strengthen the energy supply for New Yorkers and not to set people back during times of difficulty. While the gas reserve will benefit Long Island the most, Gov. Cuomo says the $10 million initiative can help support other parts of New York State. (Garden City Patch)
