The new changes to Facebook will affect teen users. In the past, teens ranging in ages from 13-17, were kept private from the public and only friends could see posts and pictures. Now Facebook is giving teens the option to share their profile publicly  These changes will take effect right away.

CNN reports strangers and advertisers can now view teenagers’ profiles. Teens also have the option to turn on the follow feature. People can follow their posts even if they are not friends.

Facebook is trying to compete with other social media networks that have more teen users. Advertisers will now create ads that appeal to teens. Facebook will warn teens that sign up with them about the public and privacy policies. At first posts will only be seen by teens’ Facebook friends but there is an option to make their profile public. (CNN)

CNN reports Facebook has been struggling with teen users ever since older generations were introduced to Facebook. Facebook also has to adapt to teens’ needs in order to compete with other social networks.
