The Rose Brucia Educational Foundation of Long Island has created a list of tips to help children stay safe while they trick-or-treat this Halloween. The foundation was created after Matthew Barbis’ cousin Carlie Brucia of Sarasota, Florida was abducted and murdered back in 2004. (Garden City Patch)

The Halloween safety tips include:
  • Never go up to houses that are not well lit
  • Do not wander from your group you are trick-or-treating with
  • Adults should always check the candy before you eat it
  • If a stranger approaches you, run away to an adult you can trust
Halloween is an exciting and fun time, but it is important children know how to stay safe while trick-or-treating. Share these tips with your children and enjoy the spooky holiday!
