Earlier this week, 18-year-old Josh Lafazan landed a seat on his Long Island School Board despite a tremendous amount of controversy. The Syosset High School senior is the youngest elected official to ever be on the school board in New York State after winning with over 2,000 votes! The election also resulted in a record setting number of voters.

Lafazan’s campaign took a bizarre twist at the very last minute when there were accusations placed among him about his father stealing information and records from the school. A message was left at school stating "Jeffrey Lafazan unlawfully removed district records that contained the names and addresses of residents. He removed the records without permission and ran away."

Lafazan believes that the message with merely a "smear-campaign tactic" thrown by school districts administration. Jeffrey Lafazan, Josh’s father reports his wife had returned the documents to the school after stating he was unaware that he couldn’t take the records.
