Over Memorial Day weekend, there were a reported 60 arrests with the charges of drunk or drugged driving according to Newsday. These 60 arrests
only include reports from the Nassau and Suffolk County police departments.
This number does not include arrests made by state police, sheriff’s department
or the village or city police departments.
In Nassau County, there were 39 people arrested on DWI charges between
the hours of 7 p.m. and 8 a.m. the next day on Friday-Saturday and
Saturday-Sunday this past holiday weekend.
In Suffolk County, there were 21 arrests for DWI and driving while ability impaired charges between the hours of 4 p.m. Friday and 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The number of arrests that occurred Saturday into Sunday is not yet available.
