Three people have been killed over a nine day period starting on January 10, all within a two block radius near West 96th Street and West End Avenue in New York City.

The most recent accident occurred when a 70 year old man crossing a street mid-block was hit by a car and critically wounded.  The accident took place on 11th Avenue near West 57th Street mid-day.  The 31 year old woman driving the four-door Nissan Sedan that struck the elderly gentleman is not expected to be charged with a crime.

Mayor de Blasio has reason for concern with the recent slew of tragedies caused by jaywalking.  Policemen have flooded the area, issuing tickets to all jaywalkers in hopes of preventing future accidents.
