Although a week has passed since Hurricane Sandy barreled through the East Coast, many people are still dealing with the aftermath of this super storm. There are some still without power, while others have damaged homes or lost their homes altogether.

Many individuals and groups have come together at this time to help all those affected return to normalcy as quickly as possible. LIPA has restored over 700,000 customers and will continue to work around the clock with over 11,000 workers to have all of their customers restored. The LIPA team also has over 7,000 linemen working in addition to tree and trim crews from around the country, some of who were airlifted by the National Guard.

If you are still without power, it's important to be in contact with LIPA to remain updated so you can keep your family as safe as possible. There is an interactive map available for viewing on the LIPA website which they encourage all customers to utilize at this time.
