Last Thursday, the Jersey Shore was hit with devastation yet again. CNN reports a fire started in a Seaside Park ice cream shop and 20 – 25 mph winds spread the fire all along the boardwalk.

Residents and shop owners just recovered from Superstorm Sandy and had shops and restaurants set back up.  John Sundermann, owner of Big Hearted John’s in Seaside Park, tells CNN he has not seen his store yet but saw firefighters spraying water in the side of his store.

Sundermann reopened his store on the July 4th weekend after Sandy last October.  Sundermann knows the steel door purchased after Sandy is gone but hopes the roof is still in tact.

CNN reports about 100 firefighters working on the Seaside fire well into Friday morning. In order to prevent any embers from spreading even more, firefighters dug a ditch out of the boardwalk to create a fire line.

The only reported injuries are those of a couple police officers who fell off a fire truck and taken to the hospital for head injuries. Governor Chris Christie is confident Seaside can mend the damages of the recent fire.
