Is Brooklyn the New "Home" for the New York Islanders?

The NHL (National Hockey League) commissioner Gary Bettman doesn’t think that Brooklyn will be a good fit for the new destination of the New York Islanders. The Islanders plan to leave the outdated Nassau Coliseum when their lease expires in 2015.

Bettman thinks it will be difficult for the team to be in Brooklyn because it will be hard to reach a fan base in Long Island and Queens. Nassau county voters rejected a $400 million referendum last year to build a new arena.

The NHL was hoping that the Islanders would relocate and explore their options in the metropolitan area, rather than move them to another state which seems to be an option currently.
