Long Island Restaurants Fined for Playing Live Music

According to federal copyright law, anyone who is playing or performing copyrighted music must obtain a license to do so. Now, several Long Island restaurants are facing fines for playing live copyrighted music.

Nine restaurants on Long Island were recently cited for violating the law. Bobbique, a Patchogue restaurant known for playing live music is one of the restaurants included in the fine. According to the owners of Bobbique, they are being fined $30,000. However, they are hoping to address the issue in federal court.
