Kalenka struck and left LaLima on the intersection of Syracuse Street and Broad Street breaking his skull, collarbone and pelvis hit LaLima. His legs and head were crushed and died at the scene. Kalenka made an attempt to cover up any evidence. According to Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice, “Mr. Kalenka showed no regard for the victim’s condition after the incident – only saving his own skin.” (Garden City Patch)
LaLima was the manager of Garden City's Grimaldi’s Pizzeria. His father has plans to file a civil suit against Kalenka. LaLima’s father tells the Garden City Patch he wants Kalenka to suffer.
