Last week Suffolk County police officers set up underage
volunteer agents to visit gas stations that might sell alcohol to minors. As a
result the police arrested three men. They were charged with “first-degree unlawfully
dealing with a child after they allegedly sold alcohol to the volunteer agents”
(Examiner).
Underage volunteer agents approached the store trying to buy
alcohol to verify the businesses followed the law. The men arrested included
Akkaya Husamettin of the OK Petroleum gas station in Centereach on 2117 Route
25, Eduardo Bauzon of the Sunoco station at 240 Terryville Road, Port Jefferson
and Subedi Ramchandra working at the BP gas station at 2117 Rout 347, Coram. (Examiner)
The following stores were in compliance with the law against
selling alcohol to minors:
- BP Gas Route 25, Centereach
- Sunoco station 669 Old Town Road, Port Jefferson
- Exxon 2309 Route 25 Centereach
- Mobil Gas 2033 Route 25 in Centereach
- Valero Gas 1274 Route 25, Selden
- BP gas 1258 Route 25, Selden
