Long Island residents are taking the time to vote for today’s county and town elections. Long Island Press reports voting numbers have not been overwhelming. No long lines were reported so far in Suffolk and Nassau County towns.

Democrat Tom Suozzi told Long Island Press he is working hard until the polls close to win his seat back from Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano. All positions are open in the Nassau County legislature as well as in Suffolk counterparts. Sheriff, treasurer and district attorney are all running unopposed. (Long Island Press)

During the polls, voters are asked to answer a few referendums. Questions are asking for approval of non-Indian casinos, civil service allowance for disabled veterans, mining in Adirondack and more. . (Long Island Press)

Voters tell Long Island Press it is important to take the time. They also complained about the excessive mail and signs they have seen regarding candidates.
