Recently, a nighttime fire destroyed a home on Sunset Drive
in Centereach. After the fire was put out, fire officials found three illegal
bedrooms in the basement of the home. (News

A total of four adults and two children were home when the
house set on fire around 11:30 Tuesday night. Two people were slightly injured
during the fire; one was treated for smoke inhalation and another for a hurt
arm. (News 12)
Fire Marshalls plan on giving summonses for the illegal
bedrooms. However, one neighbor tells News
12 they are quiet friendly people and understand the necessity of an
apartment to “make ends meet.”
The cause of the fire is still unknown and the Town of
Brookhaven continues to investigate.
