The redevelopment of Nassau Coliseum is near and there are
two possible candidates for the job: Madison Square Garden and Forest City Ratner. Both developers are premium, but only one will get the gig.
Ed Mangano, the Nassau County executive, explains that the two developers still have to negotiate and execute contracts containing their final offers and terms for the project. Once the county receives the final contracts, a committee will make a recommendation to Mangano. The last step in the process is to submit one contract to the Legislature, which must approve the standards of any final agreement. If there are any hints of faults or confusion, the contract will be immediately voided
The decision will
most likely be decided by late August or early September, because both
companies have requested for a deadline extension that will be granted.
