Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez has filed a lawsuit against MLB. Rodriguez attests MLB is paying off people for testimonies. The lawsuit claims MLB officials have given $5 million to Anthony Bosch, the founder of Biogenesis, an anti-aging clinic, in order to testify on MLB’s behalf. Newsday says the lawsuit challenges the MLB saying they participated in “tortious interference” that ruined Rodriguez’s reputation.

Rodriguez and 12 other MLB players have ben suspended for allegedly using performance-enhancing drugs. MLB accuses Rodriguez of being a patient of Biogenesis. If found guilty, Rodriguez will face a 211-game suspension. (Newsday)

Rodriguez criticizes MLB commissioner bud Selig who has said to have leaked Rodriguez’s personal information when Selig appeared on David Letterman’s late night show. The lawsuit brands Selig as “scandal-ridden” (Newsday).

The next day after filing the lawsuit on MLB, Rodriguez filed another lawsuit against Christopher Ahmad, Yankees team physician and the New York Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center. Ahmad and the medical center allegedly misdiagnosed Rodriguez during a hip injury in 2012. The doctor and staff were said to have not told Rodriguez about a tear in his left hip. The hospital tells Newsday they have no information about the lawsuit and refused to comment.

Rodriguez still has four years left of his contract with the Yankees. He is allowed $86 million and can also be allotted another $30 million for home run achievements. The allegations of Rodriguez made by MLB could affect “Rodriguez’s contract and business ventures” (Newsday).
