According to the Nassau County Police Department, a Queens man was arrested this week for scamming commuters at the Hempstead Bus Terminal.  The man posed as an employee of the Bethpage Credit Union and offered employment to people he spoke to at the bus terminal.

The scam involved receiving a check to deposit in your personal checking account.  Victims were told that this was part of the job application process.  They were instructed to withdraw the cash and return it to him.  However, the victims were later notified that due to insufficient funds, the checks would not clear.

If you or someone that you know has been a victim of this scam, Nassau County Police Department is requesting that you contact the Crimes Against Property Squad.  Call 516-573-5275 to contact the NCPD.
