This Christmas, an arsonist burned down a Long Island tanning
salon. John Rose, owner of Sky Tan of Selden, and business partner, Gene Cella, received the devastating phone call at 4 a.m. Rose told New York Daily News it took 15 years to create Sky Tan and in a matter
of minutes, flames destroyed the store.
Rose had also recently opened a bagel store located in the neighboring store front, which
was filled with 1950s rock memorabilia. Consequently, the fire also damaged the bagel store.
Rose and Cella told New
York Daily News competitors expressed disagreement when the the store opened. Cella even received a threatening text from one of the
competitors. His phone was turned over to police for a further investigation.
