Yankee all-star player, Alex Rodriguez is being suspended for a doping
violation.
The ban
began on Thursday, and league officials have charged him with a whopping 211
game suspension. This suspension lasts all the way through the 2014 season.
Michael Weiner, the executive director of the players union tells the New York Times the suspension is “way
too harsh.”
Rodriguez
is banned along fellow teammate Francisco Cervelli, Texas Rangers’ Nelson Cruz,
San Diego Padres player Everth Cabrera and the Detroit Tigers’ Jhonny Peralta.
However,
Rodriguez is the only one to appeal for the suspension. The appeal process
allows A-Rod to play for the remaining 2013 season, but with a heavy burden of
a ban.
Rodriguez
and the other banned players seemed to have been patients of Anthony P. Bosch
who ran an anti-aging clinic in South Florida called Biogenesis of America. Last
month two players were suspended from the MLB due to using banned drugs aided
by Biogenesis of America.
