Yesterday, there were four proposals received to redevelop
Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Developers include Ed Blumenfeld of Syosset, whose plan is
to build a scaled-down arena to replace the current 16,000 seat coliseum. Also
in the running is the Madison Square Garden Company, which owns the New York
Rangers, New York Knicks and Madison Square Garden.
According to Newsday, Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano
reported “With responses received from four high-level entertainment
developers, we remain very encouraged that a plan for a midsize sports entertainment
venue is in Nassau’s future.”
