MTA Considers Raising LIRR Tickets by 15%!

The MTA (Metropolitan Transportation Authority) has reported that a Long Island Rail Road ticket (LIRR) could go up by as much as 15% per ticket by March 2013.

The new proposal by the MTA has other incentives coming along with the price hike including discounts for military personnel and the Family Fare program. Ticket prices will increase between 7.1 percent and 15.3 percent depending on the type of ticket and the location from where you’re traveling.

The MTA board will be voting on Wednesday and it is expected that the increases will be approved.

Hurricane Sandy 12.12.12 Benefit Concert will Take Over MSG Tonight!

Madison Square Garden will be packed tonight for the highly anticipated 12.12.12 concert. Tonight’s concert will be featuring some of the biggest names in the music industry and was formed to benefit those people affected by Hurricane Sandy. All proceeds will go to the Robin Hood Relief Fund.

Some of the performers include Billy Joel, Bon Jovi, Eric Clapton, the Who, the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Alicia Keys, Kanye West, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band and Chris Martin!

There are many ways to get involved and contribute to this great cause. Jon Bon Jovi said, “This storm lasted a day. The effects of it are going to last a lifetime.” Billy Joel added, “I’m a Long Islander, proud to be an Islander. To see something like this happen is devastating.”

David Wright Makes a $138 million Deal with the Mets!

Earlier today, New York Mets superstar David Wright agreed to a $138 million, eight year contract with the team.

This is the “richest deal” in franchise history and will replace the third basemen’s $16 million salary and included $122 million new dollars! Wow!

David Wright is the face of the New York Mets franchise and is the leader of the team in hits, RBI’s, runs and walks. Wright has also been a part of six All-Star teams and won two gold gloves. He frequently expresses that he would love to play his entire MLB career with the NY Mets.

A 67 year old floral designer from Garden City Parks life is changed forever. Philip Cimino hit the mega millions jackpot last night for $33 million!

Cimino has decided to take the payments in lump-sum of about $24.8 million, which after taxes will come to $16,408,264. Cimino picked the winning numbers off of receipts he saves from different stores. The winning ticket was purchased at Mineola Card & Smoke on Jericho Turnpike early yesterday morning.

Cimino said, “One day I’m worried about paying my bills and the next day, that’s all gone.” He said he wants to use his lottery winnings to help family and friends. He also wants to purchase a condo.

Important Documents Found in Macy's Thanksgiving Parade Confetti

A couple of onlookers at the 2012 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade were shocked when confetti was released. Authorities are now investigating how shredded confidential police documents from the Nassau County Police Department ended up as the parades confetti.

Manhattan attorney Saul Finkelstein was watching the parade with his son when he noticed a social security number on a piece of confetti. He began to look closer at the confetti and saw license plate numbers, names, bank data and dates of birth of Nassau County police officers and detectives – some of which work undercover.

Also found among the confetti was information about Mitt Romney’s motorcade from the presidential debate which took place at Hofstra University in October.

The Nassau County Police Department is very concerned about this situation and will continue to investigate.
